Looks like it’s finally time to throw in the towel. I’ve been avoiding this for a while, not wanting to believe that people STILL care about their status after highschool. Not wanting to believe that people (older than me might I add) would be so stupid as to feed into all this petty drama. But then last night it hit me, I’ve finally realized why this whole hierarchy and the idea of “I’m cooler than thou” is still important. In middle and highschool, we have no other things to fill our mind with other than friends, academics, and the drama that exists in that little world. But as you get older, life hits you and you realize, “ain’t nobody got time fo dat drama” but the idea of the cool crowd stays because we are used to that social order.

The children that aren’t in this exclusive bubble long for the day that they become adults so this whole hierarchy can be over. But guess what, its not. The people with connections, a certain presence, a little bit of luck, and the slightest hint of skill will be the ones that end up on top. Always. The cool kids in college NEED to be there to keep the inspiration up for the noobs. You don’t need to feed into it as much as you did in the younger years, because you have your own path to pave; Regardless of where you may fall. But watch how they work, the resources they tap into, and the bonds they share because those are life skills that are very important.

Aand for me? Last night was a right of passage between all the dancing and artistic energy that was flowing. As much as I didn’t want to accept it, I realized that it’s an honor and everyone can help me make my future what I want it to be. So…yupp, it looks like I’ll be

buying a leather jacket.
